Innovation in Bloom at Wild Greens Farm
In the heart of North Yorkshire in England, Ben Wild is part of a new generation of flower growers, practical, resilient, and unafraid to challenge convention. Ben founded Wild Greens Farm in 2017, following a rich background in military service and a powerful personal recovery journey. That experience shaped the way he has built his family business today: hands-on, disciplined, hard work, consistency, and an unwavering focus on quality. Innovation isn’t a buzzword for Ben - it’s a mindset.
Wild Greens Farm supplies edible flowers, herb oils, pea shoots and microgreens to restaurants nationwide. With more than 70,000 individual flowering plants growing at any one time across greenhouses and polytunnels, Ben is always looking for smarter ways to grow stronger plants, lower input costs, and create less environmental stress.
70,000 Plants. One Magnetic Change. Big Results.
When the independent Sow Successful plant trials in 2020 revealed that violas and pansies delivered an extraordinary 400% increase in flower count using magnetic water treatment, Ben knew it was time to investigate & innovate. “We started using the Magnostream magnetic devices soon after the trial results were announced, and it has quietly transformed the way we grow.” “At first, we were curious - maybe even a bit sceptical. But the results soon began to speak for themselves.”
Ben says ‘’ magnetic water treatment was completely new to us, so I spent evenings digging into the research and speaking directly with Abimax about plant safety’’. Abimax recommended running controlled trials-and even sent samples to support our testing. We set up two identical rows of young plants: one as the control, the other treated with the Magnostream device. Same conditions. One key difference. Let the results speak.
Over the following eight weeks in the test nursery, the results were striking. Ben quotes ‘’the crops treated with magnetic water flowered six days earlier than projected and produced a noticeably higher number of blooms, consistent with the original trial data’’. He was really excited to report ‘’the combined impact on speed to market and increased flower count delivered measurable gains in yield and a clear boost to the business’s bottom line’’.
Wild Greens Farm installed Magnostream Pro units on the 30 mm pipes feeding from their 5,000-litre water tank into the polytunnels. Designed to fit pipework from 20 mm upwards, the Pro units integrate easily into existing systems. For smaller lines - hose pipes, water wands, and even watering cans, they added blue Magnostream devices.
Maintenance-free, chemical-free, and non-toxic, Magnostream installs without plumbing. By conditioning water and reducing limescale, it supports stronger growth, healthier plants, and higher productivity, simply and sustainably.
For Ben, Magnostream is one of those rare upgrades that simply makes sense. In a sector where margins are tight and conditions unpredictable, better water quality delivers a real edge, stronger crops, higher yields, and a more resilient, sustainable system.
At Wild Greens Farm, the impact has been clear: reduced limescale in irrigation lines, lower maintenance costs, improved water efficiency, and healthier, more productive plants. As Ben puts it, “We wouldn’t grow without magnetic water treatment now. The water feels charged, and the plants clearly respond.”
