Ross Geach with his ever-faithful collie, Borridge
In the middle of May 2026, I arrived in a picturesque fishing village in the Atlantic coast of Cornwall called Padstow. My purpose was to meet a market garden grower called Ross Geach, owner of the 100 acres of Trerethern Farm and Padstow Kitchen Gardens.
Ross is a former Head Chef at Rick Stein's Michelin-starred Seafood Restaurant and later inherited a 7th generation farm which he turned into both an organic farm as well as a No-Dig cultivation, all with the intent to run a regenerative & sustainable business.

Padstow Harbour
Ross’s aim for inviting me to stay a few days on his farm was to trial the Abimax hydromagnetic water treatment devices, which he had heard boosted stronger plant growth from the Champion of No Dig Cultivation, Charles Dowding.

Over the 3 days I stayed on the farm my home was a rather eccentric but very modern Shepherd's Hut in a field with wonderful views across Cornwall looking towards the Petherick Estuary and on to the moors. It’s the perfect getaway, location.

During my visit, Ross installed a number of Abimax hydromagnetic systems. These innovative systems wrap around the irrigation piping with screw fittings, eliminating the need for any plumbing or pipe cutting.

Ross installing Magnostream Pro
We also installed a Magnostream Pro to effectively treat his no-dig, organic one-acre vegetable and herb garden, which supplies his restaurants across the region, including the renowned Rick Stein Fish Restaurant. This upgrade will significantly enhance the quality of his produce.
Ross intends to conduct two comparative studies by selecting two identical polytunnels for the cultivation of courgette flowers, with one polytunnel being equipped with Magnosream technology. A similar methodology will be applied to a separate polytunnel designated for the growth of Padron chili peppers. Throughout the summer growing season, we will monitor and record the differences in yield and quality of produce resulting from the use of treated versus untreated water in the polytunnels.

Since using the hydromagnetic devices across his farm, Ross has sent us some of his thoughts and observations using Abimax magnetic water treatment. We appreciate it is early days but the news is good news.
"As a seventh-generation farmer, I'm always looking for ways to grow healthier, stronger crops, but I believe results should speak for themselves. That's why I never make bold claims until I've seen the evidence in the field.
This season I've been trialling the Abimax hydromagnetic water treatment system across most of our market garden, while deliberately leaving a couple of polytunnels untreated so I have a genuine comparison as the season unfolds.
What I've seen so far has been really encouraging. It's shaping up to be one of our best growing seasons. Our leafy greens are looking vibrant, the courgette plants are full of healthy flowers, and our padrón peppers, which were slow to get going, are now producing brilliantly.’’
He says ‘’ I'm the first to admit that great weather and good growing conditions always play their part, so I can't honestly say exactly how much of the improvement is down to the water treatment alone.

Magnostream Hydromagnetic System
What I can say is that the Abimax system has fitted effortlessly into our irrigation setup, the crops receiving treated water have looked consistently healthy and full of vigour, and I'm genuinely excited to keep tracking the results over the coming months and seasons’’.
‘’From what I've experienced so far, I'm delighted to continue using Abimax. It's a simple addition to the farm that's showing real promise, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the long-term results reveal."
