As keen gardeners and professional growers look for smarter, more sustainable ways to boost plant health, one British innovation is quietly making a big impact. London-based Abimax has developed a range of hydromagnetic devices that help prevent limescale, improve soil structure, and enhance plant growth and yield, all by simply treating the water you use every day. But does magnetically treated water truly live up to the promise?
The answer is a resounding yes.
In a recent independent trial carried out by respected garden scientist Jenny Faxå, the impact of Abimax-treated water on plant growth was put to the test. Commissioned by Sweden’s leading independent plant testing lab, Grobruket AB, and funded by Abimax’s Scandinavian distributor Spring Sweden, the trial focused on one of our garden favourites- the pansy (Viola × wittrockiana ‘Orange Sun’).
The results were nothing short of remarkable, with findings that speak for themselves. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of magnetised water could result in earlier blooming, increased flower production, and improved biomass development in pansy plants.Â
What Is Abimax and How Does It Work?Â

By generating a precisely calibrated magnetic field, Magnostream alters the structure of water molecules, enhancing both hydration & nutrient solubility and uptake at the root level. When fitted on (there’s no pipe cutting) irrigation lines, hosepipes, tanks or handheld watering systems, it promotes stronger plant growth, more abundant, vibrant flowers, bigger yields, better soil structure and water saving efficiency.
The Experiment: A Battle of the FlowersÂ
To see if Abimax lived up to the hype, Grobruket AB conducted a detailed trial using pansies, those cheerful little flowers that brighten up any garden and are popular as a culinary addition used by top chefs. The full report is available on a pdf document , click here to view it.Â
The Summary :
 Two Groups with seven pots of pansies each got either regular tap water (the control group) or water treated with the Abimax magnetised system (the treatment group).
Two Seeds Per Pot: On April 28th, two pansy seeds were planted per pot. They were both given the identical care and attention to make sure nothing but the water made a difference. From germination to blooming, the team tracked everything: flowering time, flower count, and overall plant size.
The Results:
Germination and Establishment: no big difference, both groups showed excellent germination rates-79% in the control group and 71% in the treatment group.
Time to Flower: the first flower in the control group appeared on June 23rd, while the Abimax group had to wait until June 26th. So, no significant difference in the time it took for the flowers to bloom.
600% more flowers and 3 times bigger biomass !!

The tap water plants started out with just a few blooms, but by the last measurement on July 16th, the Abimax plants had an average of 14.6 flowers per pot, compared to only 2.3 flowers in the control group. That's six times more flowers per pot! Talk about a bloom boost!
Bigger, Better Plants - as if the explosion of flowers wasn’t enough, the Abimax-treated pansies were also heavier! The control group had plants weighing an average of 3.2g, while the Abimax group tipped the scales at 10.5g-over three times the size. And, yes, this difference was statistically significant (p = 0.028). Looks like magnetised water is giving your flowers some serious muscle!
